Tripwire are going into development and then production for new play The Belly Dancer. The development is supported by Centre for Non-Violence and the Capital Theatre Performance Subsidy with the City of Greater Bendigo. The production is funded by the Ulumbarra Foundation Performing Arts Power-Up Grant.
Three actors are required to work collaboratively with Jake and Megan to finish the script and test the content. Actors will be involved in script readings, workshops with writers and project partners Centre for Non-Violence top both test existing and generate new scenes for this hard-hitting playscript. The script in development will be presented in a community consultation with relevant stakeholders and the process will culminate in a public launch of the project.
Roles are as follows (please note a actors need not meet the characters demographics, your ability to work collaboratively is more important).
Female Actor, aged 18-30 to play Sophie, a Anglo-Australian student.
Female Actor, aged 23-35 to play Rubina, a Muslim-Australian professional.
Male Actor, aged 23-35 to play David, an Anglo-Australian tradesman.
Actors must be available for all of the following dates:
Sunday 19th & Monday 20th August, Sunday 16th, Monday 17th, Tuesday 18th, Friday 21st & Sunday 23rd Sept.
All activities are to be held at The Engine Room, Bendigo between 9am and 5pm.
